Name
Selena Castro
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Hello, my name is Selena. I am 19 years old and I am from Grand Rapids Michigan. I am engaged to my bestfriend and I am currently going to college right now and getting my associates as a Medical Assistant! I am very shy when you first meet me but I can be very friendly and outgoing! I have a really big heart and I truly enjoy helping others out of the kindness of my heart. I am also very independent and I enjoy being out doors, spending time with family and friends but I also love being home and relaxing. I love music, reading, writing and singing!
What do you value most from your country?
I value the freedom and the diversity.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
My fiancé (Derrick Miller) encourages and pushes me everyday to reach my goals and be successful. He’s been the one to always support my goals and dreams and he’s loved and accepted me as a person and I appreciate and love him so much for all that he does. Speaking of which, he his also in the military, he is in the National Guard and I am proud of all he has and will accomplish.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
I know it might seem silly with me being 19 years old and all but I’ve learned and been through a lot in my 19 years and man can I just say that I am proud that I am where I am at in life right now. But to all teens out there who struggle with school, jobs, home issues, or anything of any kind, just know this life we live isn’t perfect and things are never gonna be easy but how you carry yourself through life and the decisions you make as an individual will depend all on you and there is no one you can count on truly but yourself. If you want something bad enough you will make it happen one way or another. If you want change, the change starts with you. You can do anything you set your mind to, you can fight for the things you want and love. You have a voice and if you ever feel alone or feel like your just not being heard remember you have the ability to be the change and create something better than what you could ever imagine!
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
1. I wish for my family and loved ones to live a happy life.
2. I wish my mom could be stress-free and happy.
3. I wish we all could spend less time focusing on social media and the fake we all compare ourselves to and focus on make this world and life a better place..
Was there a time u helped others out?
There have been many times I’ve helped other out. Helping others and putting others first before myself is a deep passion I have. I have stayed up many late nights talking people out of suicide, I’ve helped people with personal problems, relationship problems, financial problems, emotional abuse. Whenever someone has a problem they need advice with or help solving the issue I don’t hesitate to help I’ll drop everything to do my best to make sure they get the help they are seeking and I’ll never change that about myself.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
I am very happy and proud of the position I am in currently in life!

freedom doesn’t come free and I greatly value the sacrifices that the men and women of America have made to allow the blessings of freedoms. Being the daughter of a marine and the granddaughter of a Vietnam Vet personally reminds me of the sacrifices made.

Name
Kaitlyn
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
I was born in West Covina California in April of 2001. Grew up in Laguna/Newport along with West Covina until I was about 7 and then I moved out to Colorado, where I live now. I’ve participated/competed in sports since I was 2 years old. I am currently double majoring in nursing and criminal justice. All my life I have been pushed to be the best I could possibly be and taught to never settle for anything less.
What do you value most from your country?
freedom doesn’t come free and I greatly value the sacrifices that the men and women of America have made to allow the blessings of freedoms. Being the daughter of a marine and the granddaughter of a Vietnam Vet personally reminds me of the sacrifices made.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
my family & coach believed in me far before I learned to believe in myself and for them I am forever grateful.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
I truly wish that I could tell you the exact day of the week that the sun will begin to shine bright again, or the exact moment when you will feel whole again, but I can’t. It’s a gradual fight that you have to choose to take on everyday. With every passing day you find the weight gets lighter. Your heart will begin to put itself back together slowly, one piece at a time. Eventually, you’ll get a chance to catch a glance into the mirror one day and begin to recognize yourself again, the real you. But the thing that people are often mistaken with is believing time is the biggest healer when really Jesus is. It doesn’t matter if years pass, though it may look like the rainy days are behind you, you know that the clouds can burst at any minute. But with Jesus, He digs into the deepest parts of your soul and rather than cover up the holes, he restores them, He makes you new again. So hold onto the hope that where you are right now isn’t where you will end up being. God has much greater plans for your life that you can’t even fathom or dream of. Keep your chin up and allow yourself to be a light among others throughout the trials and tribulations of life. It gets better, Jesus wouldn’t have promised that it would if it didn’t.
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
1. For our world to have more joy, grace, and selflessness when engaging with one another.
2. A redefining of the word “love.”
3. People to truly care
Was there a time u helped others out?
I would like to think that I’ve helped others. I’ve volunteered and I do what I can.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?

I feel like what I value the most from the U.S. is that we have been given the freedom of speech as well as the opportunity of education.

Name
Jeanelle Ceniza
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Well at the moment I am 16 and I have been pretty fortunate to have grown up and lived in the U.S. and have the opportunity of education.
What do you value most from your country?
I feel like what I value the most from the U.S. is that we have been given the freedom of speech as well as the opportunity of education.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
To me what truly inspires me to go after my goals is my parents. My parents came from the Philippines and didn’t have much money. But they still managed to work hard at their studies and come to America and become nurses.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
As a teen we go through many hardships, but always keep in mind these two things. One is that there is no shame in talking to someone about how you’re feeling. And two all though current hardships always feel hard, in two-three years time there’s a good chance that you won’t even remember them.
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
If I had three wishes for the world, the first one would be that the world would be completely peaceful. And as for the second wish, I would want the world to focus on all issues concerning the earth and preserving it. And lastly my third wish would be that the people of the world will focus more on mental health and social issues within every individual person.
Was there a time u helped others out?
In the past I have volunteered at a retirement home. I pretty much just sat with the men and women that lived there and talked to them. And honestly I really enjoyed sitting there because I felt like all of us mutually enjoyed our time together. Sitting with them and conversations with them made me realize how different their times were and how we are really lucky as young people living in today’s world.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
As of now I am pretty happy with my position in life. Of course there are still many things that I feel like I can still improve on. But for the most part I am in a position where I am ready for self growth and becoming who I am meant to be.
