I believe I’ve made my own hardships in life because of the choices that I’ve made. Growing up it was very difficult to be able to find myself and know who I wanted to be,

Name
Julianna Somaini
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Born and raised in sf. My moms Colombian and my dads Italian. Growing up with this type of background was amazing, some nights we’d make empanadas or arepas and the next we’d have some crazy Italian dish that would be different every night. I felt I grew up lucky because of these differences and got to explore a lot of different cultures around me. Plus living in San Francisco you get to see all those cultures in action every single day.
What are the bad things you see on social media?
Some terrible things that I see on social media are women and men that may or may not be told that they don’t fit into a certain body type or a standard. Being someone that never was that “skinny kid” I saw that a lot with other people around me. It turned me and a lot of my friends crazy about working out and what we were eating. The social network is a dangerous place where you have to have crazy confidence, I believe, to put your whole body out there with out being judged or taking the judgement to seriously.
What are the hardships you go through?
I believe I’ve made my own hardships in life because of the choices that I’ve made. Growing up it was very difficult to be able to find myself and know who I wanted to be, what my values we’re and where my moral compass was pointing to. I go through body issues everyday, I have people in my life doing the craziest drugs and I have to worry about them 24/7. A lot of my friends bounce around to many different places sometimes being homeless and all I wish is that I can give them a place to stay. Even though I’m not the one going through these tough issues I care and worry about them and want these people to be safe. I want them to have some of the experiences that I go through and lessons that I’ve learned. But you can only do so much for a person until they have to take change into their own hands.
What are your goals in life?
My goals in life would be to have a good circle of people around me. People walk in and out of our lives every day and I loose a lot of friends. I want to be older and know I can call my friends everyday and they’ll pick up and I can see them. Knowing that they care about me just as much as I care about them.
What would you do if you could change the world?
If I could change the world in one way with no issues it would be to give everyone a room of their own. Having your own room gives you so much room to grow and learn about yourself. It allows you to express yourself and create close connections. My dream to become an interior designer and study psychology is to learn what a room can do to a person and why they need one.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
My life right now I believe is amazing and as amazing as I believe it could be. I’m grateful for the opportunities I have and for the world to put such special people into my life. I’ve learned more about the people I want to be around and that’s making me learn who I want to be. I’m happy in life and looking back on my past and mistakes Im happy that I made those I have no regrets in life because so far I’m at a position in life where I have room to strive and not let them hold me back.
What questions would you like me to make next for the new interviees coming to the website?
I think these were amazing and something cool to add may be asking what type of neighborhood they grew up in and ow did that affect where they are now.
