Name
Shania Busby
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Most people call me Nia. I’m 17 living in the Uk and currently taking A-levels, including history, psychology and English literature.
What are the bad things you see on social media?
Depressing posts that contain sensitive content, models that edit themselves to make us believe we need to look a certain way, sad truths like the crisis in Sudan and our negative impact on the environment
What are the hardships you go through?
My Mum suffers with poor mental health, my grades are currently not so great, and many obstacles stand in my way of achieving my goals, such as being quite poor. A lot of people will say ‘money can’t buy you happiness’, but unfortunately money has forced its way into society in becoming a top priority that we need, even for essentials like food and water. So thus, I think that money will make me happy, but of course to a certain extent.
What are your goals in life?
I really want to travel the world and explore everything it has to offer, as I believe we’ve been given our valuable lives to do so. I don’t want to die without feeling fulfilled, and that fulfillment really comes from my experiences and views. And when I say I want to travel, I don’t mean booking a flight and boxing myself in a hotel for a week. I mean I want to see what this beautiful earth, Mother Nature, has in store, and go on hikes, and see the lakes and oceans and mountains.
What would you do if you could change the world?
I would firstly reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. I know that many rich people have worked hard for what they earn, but I believe that having billionaires for example is excessive, when there’s so many poor people living in famine and poverty. If that money could be shared to some kind of equal extent, I think the world would be a much better place. I would also have Governments focus less on economics and more so on the environment, as going forward the environmental crisis will be the main problem, and so we need to start doing something about it now.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
Not really, and I think that many of us aren’t. Humans rarely seem to be happy with what they already have, and unfortunately I am the same. However, this doesn’t mean that I’m not grateful for everything that I already have, as I know many people are in a worse situation than me.
