Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
My names Kassy and I’m a 19 year old from London. Growing up for me was good. I was raised by my mother on an estate and had an amazing and active childhood. During my teenage years however I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I had some very low points in my life and felt like giving up with life completely. Once I reached the age of 18 things started to get easier and I can now happily say that my mental health is manageable and I’m nearly back to my fun old self!
What are the bad things you see on social media?
I see a lot of unhealthy things on social media such as promoting that guns, drugs and violence is a great lifestyle, influencing young people to also follow that lifestyle. But the most unhealthy thing I see on a daily basis on social media is “looking good” for example I feel that a lot of young and also older people are trying to look their best on Instagram. I mean looking your best isn’t bad but trying to be the best is very unhealthy on the mental health side. Girls are feeling pressured that they should look a certain way on social media in order for them to be more “popular” but whilst girls are doing this it can also make other girls feel shitty about themselves because of the way they look. What I’m saying is that if they don’t look a certain way they can get things such as hate comments which can lead to many problems such as suicide. There’s so much pressure on young people’s looks these days and I think that’s the baddest thing on social media right now due to the hateful comments.
What are the hardships you go through?
The biggest hardship I’ve been through and still go through is anxiety. Anxiety has prevented me from doing many things in life and the fact that it’s unpredictable and can hit you at any minute is what’s the hardest about it.
What are your goals in life?
The three main goals for me in life is to be financially stable, healthy and happy. But another main goal for me is to be able to help make a positive change in the world.
What would you do if you could change the world?
If I could change the world I’d make sure that nature and animals were taken care of and that money was the least of people’s worries.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
Yes. I am happy and very thankful to have a roof over my head, to be healthy and have love and support around me. I’m pursuing a career in what I love and enjoy.
What questions would you like me to make next for the new interviees coming to the website?
I feel that the questions you have made are good because these questions allow you and others to really see how different people view the world and the different struggles they may face. As of now I can’t think of any other questions but i will be sure to let you know if I think of any.
