Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Hi, my name is Gilaine and I’m 16 years old. I live in the Netherlands in Utrecht with my 4 siblings, my parents are divorced. My mom works with childeren on school who have things like dyslexia or ADHD, and my dad works with cars. I’m going to school at the Luzac College Utrecht, which is a private school. I have a job at my hockey club and at a restaurant, Proeflokaal Bregje.
What are the bad things you see on social media?
Kids making fun of each other or even bullying or threaten each other. Social media is a way to share things with the world but people only get to see the good side of all of it. Most people want to look their best and show how good they are, cause we can’t see the difference between fake and real.
What are the hardships you go through?
I actually don’t have to worry about anything at the moment. I live at home with my parents who are both very good people, I love every single person in my family, and we also don’t have to worry about money. I cannot think of any shortcomings at the moment.
What are your goals in life?
I really want to pass my high school and do an HBO education, so I can become an interior architect. My grandparents have always helped me out with everything and they will always do that, so I really want to make them proud as much as I can.
What would you do if you could change the world?
First of all I would be doing something to bring all the nature back, there are so many bad things going on in the climate system right now that people don’t know about or don’t want to know about. After I would help Third World Countries to get all their needs, like water and clothes and houses where they can actually live and don’t have to worry about things like their house collapsing.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
Yes I am actually, everything is going allright at the moment and I hope my last school year is going to be as well.
What questions would you like me to make next for the new interviees coming to the website?
Would you prefer friends over family? Or vice versa.
