Lauren G Interview

Introduce Yourself: My name is Lauren G. I am an aspiring actress, comedian, photographer and writer. I love all things that channel creativity in expressing who you are at your most vulnerable and authentic self. I am currently enrolled at Columbia College of Chicago for my masters in media and arts and I am also a student at The Second City in Chicago, IL

Thoughts On People In The World?: I think people now a days are extremely selfish, self-centered and driven by their egos and have a sense of entitlement. It’s a shame that majority of people lack empathy and understanding. If we had more empathy in the world, putting ourselves in others shoes and seeing it from their perspective, we’d see that we have a lot more in common in this human experience called life rather than trying to compare or tear each other down.

What are your inspirations & goals?: I aspire to be the best version of myself that I can be and spread positivity in my everyday life. Someone told me once that I can’t change the world. Maybe that’s right but I can certainly make a difference. I do my best to give back to those in need by volunteer work, giving a homeless person money, doing a good deed like paying for a complete strangers coffee. Doing these small daily tasks with no benefit for yourself gives me the hope that we can pay it forward and spread positive vibes throughout the universe

How would you impact the world?: I love to make people laugh by just being myself. Being honest and true and real in relating to someone else can really change someone’s negative view point. It’s easy to become and stay negative when everyone else around you seems to be that way. I want to be an original. I want to show people that they don’t have to settle and conform to what others think they should be do or say.

Struggles In Life? : I suffer from anxiety and depression. My whole family has. I feel like it’s becoming less taboo to talk about and it needs to be talked about. We shouldn’t be ashamed for feeling the way we do or being who we are and should be able to openly discuss our pain and our life experiences to one another. When you self reflect and realize you don’t want to be this person it all starts from you and there is no shame in seeking help or talking to someone or going on medication. We are all in this struggle together.

How do you feel about yourself? Any changes you would make? : I was always insecure growing up and seeking validation and attention from others. I depended on other people’s opinions of me to define who I was. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized no matter what I did I couldn’t please everyone and I needed to start living my life for me and no one else. It still gets tough and I am still insecure but every day is a new opportunity and I aspire to focus on me and be my own best friend first

What does love mean to you?: Love starts within yourself. If you don’t love yourself you truly cannot love anyone else. A lot of people look for happiness in love when you need to be happy and love yourself first. It’s so cliche but it’s so cliche because it’s true. I believe that there is pure love and pure connection out there but you won’t find it until you found it within yourself first.
