Jiya Interview

Introduce yourself?: I’m Jiya and I graduated three times in different Universities. Aside from that, I never liked school but I didn’t give up on it either. I used to win writing competitions from a young age in other schools.

What inspires you everyday?: God and the lessons from the Prophets. I am inspired by the bravery of people when they had nothing in history. I am not inspired by people who have everything and are not empathetic or strong enough to admit their mistakes.

What is something you would change about people in the world?: Very often the change that we want to see in the world is the change we need to make in ourselves. I wish that there were no wars and people would get on. So much natural beauty and history that was destroyed because of power hungry monsters. Now, all we see are bad thoughts reflecting on people’s faces. People getting upset over nothing and blaming books & the innocent for all that goes wrong.

How do you feel about the people in the world?: I feel as though we’ve all become so distant because were chasing a dream that we can’t get and forgetting what is in front of us. Were missing out on opportunities to have happy memories. Were missing out on real friendship because of the misuse of technology. Many people aren’t willing to approach others and just talk. So many mental health issues go on ignored as no-one talks about it.

What is something you’ve struggled with in life?: Being accepted by others. And I wasn’t keen on the schooling system at the time. I found that the teachers weren’t interested and I ended up losing interest in what they were teaching. None of the teachers had a clue what students with two nationalities go through, so they didn’t have the tools to help. A lot of the time I wouldn’t be able to conform to people so they would end up not liking me. I’d be the odd one out and that’s continued in my relationships. It was a constant power struggle to continue to be authentically me.

What is a positive message you would give others?: Don’t worry about what you don’t have and focus on what you do. Treat others how you would treat yourself.

what is some things you wanna tell people in the world and be honest? : Before you pick on others, look in the mirror.

And try to make an effort to understand others.

So many times people turn on each other over a joke.
