Lily Interview

My name is Lily, I’m a senior in high school and I live in Southern California. I like to paint, read, sing, bake, and be outside. I believe in equal opportunities/rights for men and women of all nationalities, religions, social classes, and abilities. I try to help the movement in any way I can, even if it’s just by sharing an educational tweet. My favorite school subject is history, because it can be so inspirational. My favorite things to read are memoirs/biographies.

What inspires you everyday

I am inspired by the beauty of the earth around me and by the strength of my mother

What is something you would change about people in the world

I would give people more empathy so that they would be able to see what life is like for other people. The world would be a kinder place if people could empathize with others.

How do you feel about people in the world

For the most part, I think that people are pretty good. However, a lot of people get lost in all of the craziness of the world and kind of lose their humanity. This leads to all of the problems we see today. I do think there is hope for humanity, we just need to try very hard to raise future generations with love and empathy.

What is something you’ve struggled with in life

Growing up my family was poor and my father was violent and abusive. Now all of my siblings struggle with various emotional regulation disorders and I am often left to pick up the pieces. Poverty is something I am still struggling with, though I am now free from the abuse of my father. Since most of my peers are middle to upper class it’s hard to convey to them what life is like for me. My main struggle is to get myself and my family out of poverty and prevent any of us from having to be in this

What is a positive message you would give others

I would want others to know that they are beautiful and valuable, even on bad days. Self confidence, in your appearance in in your personality, is so important in leading a happy life and I just want everyone to know that they are loved and that they deserve to be loved.

Last question if you could make a difference in the world how would you do that

I would want to get so rich that I could donate tons and tons of money to poor and struggling families, and also donate to organizations like UNICEF that help children in war torn countries. I would also want to volunteer a bunch and just generally spread the love
