Hadaya Samatar Interview

Hello my name is Hadaya Samatar, I’m 23 years old, single living by myself in the beautiful city lf Montreal.

What inspires you everyday

What inspires me is that everyone one this planet, regardless of their age, their income, their status or even their health, everyone here on this earth is alive and has a battle to face. Some give up some don’t but everyone has their own fight to win. We may be far from equal. We may stray from the good path but I believe in the univers and I believe there’s a grand design. Good or bad we are all taking part in the schema of life, for better or for worst. We are not alone although we may feel  We may be far from equal. We may stray from the good path but I believe in the univers and I believe there’s a grand design. Good or bad we are all taking part in the schema of life, for better or for worst. We are not alone although we may feel lonely, but we are all here together this once.

What is something you would change about people in the world

As a black person I’d love to see people accepting each other. Just to see people recognizing that we really are all humain and treat each other as such.

What is your view on the people in the world
Right now I am very disappointed by the types of people I see in the media. Obviously I’m chocked by the Neo Nazi white supremacist rally in virginia. I’m very sad about this, we as humans are failing. Some more than other and a lot are holding a bigger portion of the blame but the consequences of this affects all of us. It’s a tragedy to see that we’ve come so far only to get pulled back right to the beginning.
But I stay hopefull that things can change. This generation can overcome any obstacle. I will do my absolute possible as a human  being to not let this world get completly teared down by some

What is something you’ve struggled with in life
I’ve struggled and still struggle a lot with my mental health. I’ve been diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder about 3 years ago and it helped a bit to know what it was but it was really difficult because of all the stigma that comes with the title even within a medical environment.

What is a positive message you would give others
Love yourself unconditionally. Sounds cliché but ultimately if you can’t find true love within yourself, you won’t find it anywhere else.

Last question if you could make a difference in the world how would you do that
Through writting songs. I love music and poetry and I believe I am good at it. This is the best way for me to find peace between me and my emotions. I’d encourage and uplift those who’d want to do the same.
