Ashley Webb Interview

Hi, my name is Ashley Webb, I’m a sophomore in highschool at Smith-Cotton. I was born in a small town in Missouri and I have lived here my whole life. Surprising alot has happened in this small town of 22,000.  Several teen suicides and deaths have happened in the past 3 years and it has a hard hit on the community.

What inspires you everyday

The people around me that have gone through tough situations and still pulled through. They look everyday to God for guidance and help. And he never leads them the wrong way. When one of my older sisters was born she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in her kidneys. That lasted for 2 years. 12 years later my Mother’s first husband was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in his brain. 1 year later he died. My Mom went through one of her children possibly dying and her husband passing from

Her faith never faltered. She doesn’t blame God at all. She knows it was all in his plan. I hope to be like that someday.

What is something you would change about people in the world

If I could change one thing about people in the world it would be their compassion. Most people today just care about whats current & popular. When something bad happens they give “sympathy” and move on with their lives. I dont think many even know what compassion for another is. Its almost like everyone is robotic, they dont care if their words hurt another. They pretend they care for a little while if there is a shooting or someone in their school commits suicide, but after that small period

What is your view on the people in the world

Deep in everyone hearts there is the desire to to good, and to love one another, but the world (media ect.) puts that down

What is something you’ve struggled with in life

Learning to let go. I am a very stubborn person and I dont forgive easily. Over time though I’ve learned how unhealthy it is, how much it weighs you down.

What is a positive message you would give others

Make the most out of life & this might sound old because we all have heard it but treat others they way you want to be treated.

Last question if you could make a difference in the world how would you do it

Help the people struggling with depression and thing the only way out it too kill themselves. There are some still in the world today who dont think that it is a big issue, that mental illnesses are not real and the person with it just needs to get over it. I want people around the world to be educated about it. To know that this is a serious condition and that you just cant “put it down
