Hayden Kjelleren Interview

My name is Hayden Kjelleren, I am going to be a sophomore at Westminster College and am pursuing a business degree.

What inspires you everyday

Successful people who are happy with what they are doing and positively impacting those around them.

What is something you would change about people in the world

Jealousy

What is your view on the people in the world

People in the world need to be more thankful and remember how lucky we are just to be alive. We get so caught up in achieving the goals of our individual lives that we take the basic luxuries of life for granted.

This is particularly pertinent to those living in wealthier countries where we don’t have to walk ten miles to go to school or drink water.

What is something youve struggled with in life

My most recent struggle that has definitely been the hardest thus far for me in life revolves around my mom. She was diagnosed with cancer my freshman year of high school and I have seen her endure an insane amount of pain, stress and suffering. This has been hard for me as well even though I am not the one battling cancer because I hate seeing someone close to me have to suffer. Therefore I am just trying to be as supportive as I can for her and be the best son I can be in this difficult time.

What is a positive message you would gives others

Always remember that there are other people out there who have it way worse then you do. Even though it may seem like life can be terrible at times try and think of positive experiences that you have had in the past and know that you can create whatever type of life you want for yourself for the future.

Last question what is a goal you like to achieve in the world

Help the educational systems in low-income areas around our country. Whether it’s donate money for sports teams or after school programs, whatever helps younger kids stay in school and have access to healthy outlets to put their focus and time into. I think that if we as a country can grow it’s from the bottom up and if we gain a more educated populous internally, we will then be more capable of helping people outside of this country.  democracy works.
