My name is Nury, and I’m a Korean-Canadian 17 year old high school student on the East Coast of Canada. I immigrated from South Korea at the age of 5, and have been here ever since. I would consider myself a more artistic person; I enjoy dance, music, instruments, drawing etc.
What inspires you everyday

Plenty of things inspire me daily – the people around me and their ideas, random things I see or hear, and my already learned lessons from the past that inspires me to become a better person.
What is something you would change about people in the world

One thing that I would change about people in the world is ignorance and closed mindedness. Something that I think slows the process of evolving our society is uneducated ignorance.
What is your view on society today

Despite some recent events and tragedies, I’m extremely proud of the progress that we’ve made so far in the western society. There’s still a long list of flaws and improvements, but I don’t think that there will ever be a time where a society will be completely perfect. For now, we should continue concentrating on diminishing sexism, homophobia, racism, transphobia, etc. Instead of criticizing others, lets educate them and move forward civilly as a connected movement of people.
What is something you’ve struggled with

Something that I’ve always struggled with and still struggle with is accepting myself and all of my flaws – being okay with imperfection and not comparing myself to others. High expectations and impossible standards are something that I set for myself all the time and I’m still working on it. It takes awhile to truly love yourself and I hope that I get there one day.
What is a positive message you would give others

Something positive that I’d like to share with others is the message that it’s all about mindset – every change, every emotion, every chance you let yourself feel pain or happiness; it’s all you. You make the choice to move forward with the lifestyle that you want to live and to get there you must work on obtaining a positive and motivating mindset!
Last question what is a goal you would like to achieve in the future

A goal that I’d like to achieve is to be satisfied with my achievements. Everything that I’ve done up to that point I hope to be proud of, and to be happy with myself and my accomplishments. Happiness I guess is what I want the most in the future as cheesy as that sounds. I want to become one hundred percent satisfied with life and my success.
