I’m Hollis Kolmansberger, I am a 17 year-old high school junior.
What inspires you everyday
People and places. I love hearing other people’s views and experiencing new settings- these things ultimately inspire my clothing brand.
What is something you would change about people in the world
I don’t think I particularly want to change people; rather, show people what genuine happiness looks like. For me, that’s helping others. If I could inspire someone to go out and do something good for someone else, that would be my “change” in a sense.
What is your view on society today
I’m proud of where we are. Of course, there is always need for progression. For me, I want to help progress the environmental aspects of society, and how we can better protect our world and our oceans. I want to play a part in the integration to more environmental-friendly materials and fabrics within the fashion industry, because that is an upcoming dilemma- the recycling of fabrics and innovative techniques can transform what we know as fashion.
What is something you’ve struggled with
The idea of failure. I know it’s part of learning, and I’m not scared of the little setbacks, but rather the ultimate inability to reach my goal of being a successful designer. But I have never not acted on behalf of fear, because I know if I held myself back I’d regret it.
What is a positive message you would give others
. A positive message I’d want to give everyone is a list of the three things that I live by- 1. Reach out to others and make connections, and make people feel good while doing it 2. Don’t hold yourself back, so do as many out-of-the-comfort-zone things as possible (per day) 3. Pray, accept where you are, then take action with God in mind.
Those are my philosophies that I keep in each day 🙂
Last question what is a goal you would like to achieve in the future
Career-wise, I want to be a successful fashion designer. I’d love to have my own shows some day in fashion week. But life-wise, I want to live purposefully and happily.
