My name is Alexis. I am 20 years old and I am from Allentown, Pennsylvania. I am currently a junior at Millersville University, duel majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I am also employed as an assistant preschool teacher. I am very passionate about fitness, education, and overall just being a kind person to others.
What inspires you everyday?
Fitness inspires me to make healthy choices for myself. It inspires me to keep going and remember how strong I am both physically and mentally. My goal of becoming a teacher inspires me to make every opportunity a learning opportunity. Learning gives us the power to do anything.
What is something you would change about people in the world?
I wish people would not be so selfish. I think sometimes as humans we forget to think of things from another person’s point of view. We really have no idea what someone else is going through so we should take every opportunity to support them and build them up instead of tearing them down. I believe the world would be a much better place if we were all a little kinder.
What is your view on society today?
If you look at history, we as human have definitely progressed. Sometimes I think we all focus on the negative things about today’s world but we are making progress when it comes to things such as sexism, racism, the environment, etc. I think we need to focus more on what society is doing right ,that way we can keep progressing because if we look at the negative things in society we are going to back track.
What is something you’ve struggled with
I have struggled with knowing my own worth. I was always worried about my body image and who liked me. I know now that the only person who can define my self worth and make me happy is me. I, and everyone else struggling with this, need to look at all the amazing things that I have accomplished.
What is a positive message you would give others?
Never give up. You can and will accomplish your goals. Do not let any bumps in the road along the way stop you. You can do anything you put your mind to.
Last question what is your definition of a peaceful world?
A world in which we are accepting of each other and we encourage differences instead of using them against each other
