My name is Megan, I’m 18 and I’m a senior in high school from Virginia.
What is your everyday inspiration
I’m a religious person so I would say the Lord as well as the people I surround myself with.
What is something you would change about people in the world?
I would change the hate that people have in their hearts towards others. I would also change how people listen to others by showing them to listen to understand what someone is saying and not just to respond. Too often no one actually listens to anyone they just hear it. This, in my opinion, has created an even larger barrier between people.
What is your view on society today?
Today’s society is full of judgement especially towards others who may not look, act, worship, or speak the same as us. This creates a separation between us and makes it harder to come together when we see all these different groups. Society also values worldly and material items as well as external beauty of people as opposed to the true inner beauty of individuals including personality, thoughts, and personal values.
What is something you’ve struggled with?
I’ve struggled with being afraid of doing what I really want to do because of what other people might think of it and say about me.
I’ve also struggled with taking things for granted. I get so caught up in my everyday life that sometimes it’s like I’m a robot and I never actually stop to appreciate the beauty that God has created for us on this earth, and the gorgeous people he has placed in my life as well as the amazing life and opportunities he has provided for me.
What is a positive message you would give others?
We need to start loving others despite what the world tells us to do. Embrace our differences and celebrate uniqueness. In God’s eyes we are all made to perfection and there is no need to tear each other down because we aren’t all from the same cookie cutter molds. If we open our hearts and spread love and kindness, even though it’s just a simple change, I think that we can create a huge impact on the world.
Last question do you feel like us as people can make a difference in the world and why?
Yes. We are the ones that can and have to change things. There is power in numbers. We (ourselves) determine what we do, say, and believe. So why can’t we help show everyone else how to love each-other?
