Question #1 tell the world about yourself?
My name is Juli Washbourn and I’m honestly just about as average as it gets. I’m 16 years old and a junior in high school. I’ve never been a very outspoken person unless it comes to things that are truly important to me. Also, I’ve never been the type of person to tell/express my feelings and emotions to other people because I don’t want it to seem like I’m dumping my issues on them when they’ve got their own life to deal with. I play softball for my high school and have been playing since I was 4 years old, it’s the only constant thing in my life that I know will never leave me.
What inspires you?
My mom. Man, this woman is who I inspire to be exactly like when I’m older. She’s my biggest supporter in everything I do and will help me do what ever is necessary to get me further in life. I would do anything to make my mom the happiest person ever. She is my greatest blessing. I will forever be thankful for all the times she has helped with a school project; therefore having to stay up until 2 in the morning doing finishing touches, she’s never once been afraid to be herself and has taught me to love myself for who I am, and just overall being a great friend and mom to me. She has overcome any challenge you can possibly thing of, whether that be living with a single mom and basically raising herself, or having a child at 19 and finishing high school as well as finishing college and finding my father who’s her everything.( that was still for question 2)
What is something you would change about the world?
God, I would change so much if I could. I would change the fact that women are afraid to walk down the streets alone at night, that boys that get raped “liked it” and should be “proud because they had sex”, that rape is the victims fault and that they were asking for it because of what they were wearing or how intoxicated they were, that all muslims are “terrorist”, all hispanics are “drug dealers and rapists”, or that all African American people are “in a gang and want to hurt you.”
There are a million other things that I would change if I was capable of changing. And hopefully one day I can help change those things.
What is a positive message you would give others?
the ones who love your dark are the only light you’ll ever need.
What does true love mean to you
True love to me is when you can be with someone and being doing absolutely nothing and be having the time of your life with them. It’s when you look at them and you just smile and you just can’t stop smiling.
What is something you’ve struggled with?
Letting people walk all over me like I’m a door mat, it was a really big struggle for me when I was younger, but now that I’m older I’ve realized not everybody that comes into your life is meant to stay. That was a hard day when I learned that.
What is a goal you want to accomplish in life?
To be completely happy and content with my life.
Last question do you feel like us as people can make a difference in the world and why
Of course I do, I just believe that we don’t make the right choices to make a difference in the world. We chose ourselves over others all the time, when really we should be helping other people before ourselves. One day I hope that the world has changed and for the better
